 The history of this family-owned, ultra-premium,boutique Santa Maria winery dates back to 1988 when the Beko family purchased a 78-acre estate located at the north end of the famous Foxen Canyon Trail.  The estate’s north-south planted vineyards date to the early 70’s, and their proximity to the ocean & its heavy marine influence give the grapes an extraordinarily long growing season.  Managed row by row, vine by vine, the hand-picked grapes result in   wines that are long lasting & age worthy, requiring a minimum of winemaker intervention.  In fact, Norm states that the high acidity of his fruit enables the wines to be enjoyed on release or to be allowed to age, generally outlasting the corks! 

Tonight, we’ll enjoy five of these great wines perfectly paired with outstanding cuisine from the culinary team at Sam’s.  We are privileged to have a rare Southern California appearance by the man behind these amazing wines.  If you have met Norm, you have already booked your reservation.  If not, don’t miss this opportunity to learn, first-hand, about the history of Cottonwood Canyon and the art of winemaking.

 Sam's by the Beach is thrilled to announce an upcoming winemaker's dinner with renowned Santa Barbara County’s Wine Country's Cottonwood Canyon (Vineyard & Winery) on Tuesday, March 29th.

We are creating a special five-course Dinner menu, designed to pair with a selection of six Cottonwood Canyon premium wines. The dinner will be hosted by Owner and Winemaker Norm Beko.

Cottonwood Canyon Vineyard & Winery is a small ultra-premium winery located in Santa Maria Wine Valley, specializing in Chardonnay, Syrah and Pinot Noir. Founded in 1988 by the Beko family, Cottonwood Canyon joins traditional Burgundian wine-making practices with American ingenuity to produce age-worthy and memorable wines.
